SUPERIOR, Neb. – The Brodstone Healthcare Board of Managing Trustees has announced the appointment of Doug Wehrman as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective following the departure of current CEO Treg Vyzourek. His appointment is intended to ensure continuity of operations and support a seamless leadership transition for employees, providers, patients, and community partners.
"We are pleased to announce Doug Wehrman as Interim CEO," said Royce Schott, President of the Brodstone Healthcare Board of Managing Trustees. "Doug has dedicated more than 16 years to Brodstone Healthcare and has played an integral role in our organization's growth and success. His deep understanding of our operations, culture, and mission makes him uniquely qualified to lead Brodstone through this transition."
Wehrman joined Brodstone Healthcare in 2010 as a Physical Therapist after earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Prior to that, he received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Hastings College. In 2015, he was promoted to Director of Therapy Services. In 2018, he assumed the role of Senior Director of Ancillary Services, where he provided leadership for multiple clinical departments and service lines. In 2023, he was appointed Chief Operations Officer, helping oversee strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and organizational growth. Wehrman earned his Master's of Business Administration degree in 2025 from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
"I am honored with the trust the Board has placed in me and grateful for the opportunity to serve as Interim CEO," said Wehrman. "Brodstone Healthcare has been my professional home for the past 16 years. I came to Brodstone with the mission to ensure residents in our rural communities have the same access to high-quality healthcare as their urban counterparts. I am committed to continuing this mission by supporting our employees, providers, patients, and communities throughout this transition. Together, we will continue to build upon the strong foundation that has made Brodstone a trusted healthcare leader in our region."
A lifelong resident of the area, Wehrman has deep roots in the communities Brodstone Healthcare serves and a strong understanding of the healthcare needs of rural families. His longstanding connection to the area, combined with his leadership experience, positions him well to guide the organization during this period of transition.
The Board has begun the process of identifying Brodstone Healthcare's next Chief Executive Officer and remains committed to ensuring a smooth and seamless leadership transition.
"Brodstone Healthcare is exceptionally well-positioned for the future," Schott said. "We have an outstanding leadership team, dedicated employees, exceptional providers, and a clear mission. We are confident that Doug's leadership will provide stability and continuity."
